# 26 He Ri Sakhi Batlaye mujhe

He ri sakhi batlay mujhe
Beat: Gazal kavali
He ri sakhi batlaay mujhe
Piya k man bhawan ki batiya ||repeat||
Gunheen maleen sharir mera
Kuch haar singar kiya bhi nahi
Nahi janu main prem ki baat koi
Meri kanpat hai dar se chhatiyan ||1||
Piya andar mahal viraj rahe
Ghar kajan me atkaay rahi
Nahi ek ghadi pal sang kiya
Virtha sab beet gayi ratiyan. ||2||
Piya sovat  oonchi  atarin me.
Jaha jeev parind ko gamm nahi
Kis marag hoy k jaay miloon
Kis bhaant banay likhun patiyan ||3||
Nij swarath ka sansar sabhi.
Kis se ab preet karu mann me
Bramhanand piya hitkaar mera.

Semantics:

Oh, my friend, please tell me, what are my beloved’s favorite words?
My body is unclean, devoid of grace; I wear no ornament, nor makeup on my face.
I do not know the language of love, my heart trembles with fear.

Alas! I was absorbed in household chores, while my sweetheart waited within the palace.
Not a moment did I spend with my beloved, and the nights slipped away in vain.

My dear one sleeps in a lofty tower, where no creature or bird can reach.
How can I ever meet him? How can I send him a message?

Swami Brahmanand says, "This world is filled with selfishness; whom should I love but the Divine?"
My beloved is my only refuge; there is no other way but to worship God.

Connotation:

Swamiji wishes for someone to show him how to allure his beloved, the Divine, who is God. He reflects on his sins, realizing that he never remembered God, wasting his time in bliss and luxury.
He acknowledges that God is far beyond this world, unreachable by those who feel separate from Him.
Ultimately, Swamiji concludes that the world is full of selfishness, and the most beneficial path is to love and worship God. Brahmaanand ji says there is no other way but this.

Semantics:
Swami Brahmanandji's bhajan echoes: "O human! Lies are scattered everywhere in this world. O human! Ponder, perceive, and ponder again.

If, by forsaking the Holy name of God, pride swells within you, it is but folly.

Grand kingdoms, riches, and rulers all merged into the earth when death arrives, leaving no trace behind.

Mightier warriors than Arjuna, Bheem, and Karna once walked this earth, their battle cries echoing, yet they succumbed to the relentless grasp of Time, meeting their end.

Scholars and sages graced this world, alongside the talented and beautiful, each striving to shape their own destinies, yet their days are fleeting.

Brahmaanand Ji declares: Money, youth, and talent are fleeting in this world, all subject to ruin. Only the Divine and the Holy name of God reign supreme, eternal and immortal. Thus, let every soul chant the Lord's Holy name."

Connotation.
Swami Brahmanand ji elucidates the transient nature of the world in this hymn, asserting its inherent falsehood due to its destructible nature.
Human attributes such as beauty, talent, wealth, health, strength, intelligence, bravery, and glory all fade away with the passing of human life. Therefore, anything impermanent cannot be deemed as truth.
Only the name of God endures as true. Swami Brahmanand ji urges us to seek refuge in God.

Semantics :
In this world, our meetings are brief, just fleeting moments.

Life here is like a cycle of rebirth, a continuous game.

Some depart, some are departing, while others prepare to leave,

Some carry their karmic baggage, while others depart unburdened.

No matter how much wealth one accumulates,

Through deceit, tricks, or false promotions,

In the end, not even a single coin can be taken.

Even family members cannot assist on the deathbed,

So why accumulate sins?

Poet Brahmanand advises, "O disciples! This world is transient.

It is wise to worship the divine,

For in the end, only God can provide solace."

In Poetic form:

In this world, our encounters are fleeting,

A game of souls, endlessly repeating.

Some depart, some are on their way,

With karma's baggage, some choose to stay.

No wealth amassed can escape this fate,

Millions gained through deceit, too late.

In death's grip, kinfolk stand frail,

Why carry sins, to no avail?

This world, a transient game, heeds Brahmanand's decree,

Mortal and fleeting, yet we fail to see.

Disciples, worship the divine, with fervent appeal,

For in the end, only God's grace can heal.

Connotation:
Addressing his disciples in this hymn, Swamiji emphasizes the finite lifespan of creatures in this mortal world. He underscores that no creature or object is immortal; many have come and gone, and those who remain will also meet their end. When most people die, their attachment to their actions lingers in their hearts. Swamiji refers to this attachment as a "baggage," which perpetuates the cycle of rebirth. Thus, attachment becomes an impediment to salvation.

Swamiji observes that despite striving with sin and deceit to amass wealth for their families, neither the ill-gotten gains nor the family members can provide solace on one's deathbed. Therefore, Swamiji advocates worshiping God without engaging in sin.

Mujhe kya kaam duniya se

Raag: gazal taal dhamal

||Repeat||
Pyare ki khoj me nishdin fira jungle pahado me

Mila darshan nahi mujhko gami me main samana hu ||2||
Kisi ko yog man bhave kisi ko gyan ki charcha
Prem sagar k pani me humesha main dubana hu ||3||
Basi dil beech me mere chhavi dildaar ki sundar
Vo bramhanand tan man ki sudhi sari bhulana hu ||4||

Semantics:

I am enamored with the world in separation, what work do I have? ||Repeat|| In search of the beloved, I wander day and night in jungles and mountains I haven't found the way, for a long time I've been lost ||1|| I performed chants, penance, full of desire to meet him But didn't receive his sight, in sorrow, I confront ||2|| Some are fascinated by yoga, some indulge in discussions of knowledge I am always immersed in the ocean of love ||3|| In the midst of my heart resides the beautiful image of the beloved

I forget all the bliss of Brahman, body and mind ||4||

Connotations:

The verses talk about feeling deeply lonely and lost in the world, like something important is missing. It's like going on a journey to find that missing piece, but no matter how hard you try, you still feel lost. People try different things like meditation or learning, but the feeling of being lost remains. The verses also mention the idea of love being like an ocean that everyone is swimming in, no matter what path they take. They talk about thinking a lot about someone special, which helps forget about other things. But even with all these thoughts, there's a feeling of forgetting something really important, like losing sight of what's truly meaningful.

# 6 Kahe Soch Kare Nar Me

Kahe soch kare nar man me
Raag: jangal taal

Kahe soch kare nar man me

Apni karni nishchaya bharni
Dushman mitra n koi tumhare||3|| kahe•
Bramhanand simar jagadishvar
Sab dukh sankat door nivare ||4||kahe•

Semantics:

Oh, human soul, why fret thy mind's confines? Fate's decree unfolds as stars aligns Destiny's hand, relentless, ever true, Despite man's striving, fate shall construe

Harishchandra, Nala, Rama, noble four, Forsook their thrones, to distant forests tore Each deed, a debt, must duly be repaid, No foe, no friend, in fate's serenade

Brahmananda's hymns to heavens soar, In God alone, distress finds it's restore

Connotation:

Swamiji implores, "Oh, humanity! Why worry about the future? For your destiny is shaped by your present actions. If goodness is what you seek, then sow the seeds of virtue, for as we sow, so shall we reap—such is the Law of Karma.

He illustrates with the tales of illustrious kings—Harishchandra, Nala, Yudhishthir, and Lord Rama—each revered for their righteousness and might. Yet, despite their noble stature, fate cast them into exile, into the depths of daunting forests. Thus, none can evade the clutches of Karma; only the divine grace of the Lord can liberate us from its grasp.

Therefore, Swamiji urges all to extol the virtues of the Lord."

Lost in the illusion of Maya,

I failed to recognize Your true form,

Caught in the cycle of birth and death |3|

In this ocean of existence, vast and boundless,

Bestow Your compassionate grace upon me,

Delay not, O merciful one |4

Connotation:

The verses express a plea for divine help and guidance. They acknowledge human shortcomings and the distractions of worldly desires. Despite this, there's a recognition of the need to seek refuge in the divine amidst the cycles of birth, death, and the illusions of worldly life. The speaker seeks liberation from the ocean of existence through the compassionate grace of the Lord.

# 17 Jisko Nahi hai Bodh to Gurugyan kya kare

Bhajan lyrics: jisko nahi hai bodh to
Raag:.               Rekhta taal dadra

Jisko nahi hai bodh to guru  gyan kya kare
Nij roop ko jaana nahi puran kya kare |repeat|

Ghat ghat me bramhjot ka prakash ho raha
Mita na dwait bhav to fir dhyan kya kare|1|
Rachna prabhu ki dekh kar gyani bade bade
Pave n koi paar to nadan kya kare|2|
Karke daya dayal ne manush janam diya
Banda na kare bhajan to bhagwan kya kare|3|
Sab jeev jantuon me jise hai nahi daya
Bramhanand barat nem punya daan kya kare|4|

Word Meaning:
  Bodh= Knowledge of self ;
guru gyan = teachings of master ; nij = self
Puran = Sacred text ;. Ghat = living body
Bramhjot= eternal light ;
dwaitbhav =a  sense that God and Devotee are not one
Dhyan = meditation ; rachna= Creation
Gyani = intellectual ; pave = gets ; paar = last fact
Daya= Mercy ; Dayal= Compassionate Lord ;
Manush janam = Human birth/ life ; banda= devotee
Barat (vrat) = fast ; nem(niyam)= religious practice

Semantics:
If someone don't understands himself then what else can A Master's knowledge  do?
If someone do not recognize his own form then what else can Sacred text do?
Every heart illuminated with the light of One Divine
Even if there is duality in mind then what else can meditation do?
By seeing the Lord's creation , even the great intellectuals could not cross the knowledge (of Divine)
Then what else can an immature do?
Merciful Lord gave us a human birth/ life if we devotees doesn't recite God's Name and virtues then what else can God do?
The man who does not have compassion for all living beings then what else can  virtuous deeds (fasting, charity , religious practice) do?

Connotation:
Swami bramhanand ji says in this hymn that if a man does not have knowledge of himself. Then reading religious text is useless. Because Sacred text teachs us about self and if we don't know self then reading text is useless.
The life in the hearts of all living beings is belongs to one God, even after knowing the oneness of Soul if duality remains the meditation is also worthless. Because the goal of meditation is union with God and if we are not experiencing the unity of the Soul of all living beings then how can meditation be possible?
Even the great intellectuals couldn't know the elementary knowledge of God's creation then we are immature people are helpless about it. So we should chant Lord's Divine name and virtues.
Our human life is the result of great Mercy of God so it's our duty to worship God.
We do fasting so that we may gain patience, we do charity so that we may lose greed. If we become controlled by greed and we lost our patience then our fasting and charity are worthless.
In last swamiji says that we should live restrained life by knowing the self, and we should know the religion by fact, not only  by practicing it.

# 14 Kis Devta ne Aaj mera dil chura liya

Bhajan lyrics: kis devta ne aaj mera dil

Raag: rekhta taal dadra

Rehta tha paas me sada lekin chhipa hua
Karke daya dayal ne parda utha diya |1|
Suraj wo tha na chand tha bijli na thi vaha
Ekdum wo ajab shan ka jalwa dikha diya|2|
Firke jo aankh kholkar dhundhna laga use
Gayab tha nazar se soyi fir paas paa liya|3|
Karke kasoor maf mere janm janm ke
Bramhanand apne charan me mujhko laga liya|4|

Word Meaning:
devta= deity; dayal = merciful;
parda= curtain; bijli= lightning; azab= amazing
Shan= glory ;  jalwa= splendor; kasoor= sin

Semantics:
(I don't know, which)God has stolen my heart
I have no more attention in world & forgotten the sense of my body
He always lived with me before, but was hidden
Merciful Lord has removed the curtain
Neither the sun nor moon nor lightning was there
Suddenly (The Lord) showed the most amazing form (of his splendor )
After that I opened the eyes and started looking for that sight
Which was out of sight at first, I have got it again
Forgiving the sins I have committed in previous births
Bramhanand says that  ' God took him in his feet (refuge)

Connotation:
Swami brahmanand describing the process of self-realization by Grace of God, and says that how great Lord helped him to become a true devotee.
Swamiji says in this hymn that he was not able & eligible for a glimpse of God and swamiji was also unknown to the real form of God, as like other mortals. But the merciful Lord removed the curtain of illusion  'MAYA' & showed light of true knowledge.
In Bhagwatgita God telling about it
"Neither the sun nor moon nor fire can illuminate that supreme self effulgent state, attaining which they never return to this world; that is my supreme abode"
                                      --   Bhagwat gita verse 8 chapter 11
In short, God can not be seen in worldly light of sun, moon or in any lamp. Glimpse of God only can be attain by divine sight. And only, God can give the Divine sight ( in form of a Guru , as krishna to Arjuna; kapil to devhuti ; shukadev to parikshit )
In Bhagwatgita we can see it
"But surely you cannot see me with these physical eyes of yours, therefore I vouchsafe to you the Divine eye, with this you behold my divine power of yoga"
Bhagwat gita verse 6 chapter 15
In last swamiji ji showed his gratitude towards the merciful act of God.
